What I Read

From industry news to the “just for fun” news, here’s what I read on the regular.

theSkimm is an e-newsletter that makes it easier to read the news. Everything is broken down into conversational and simple English with added punches of sass. I get this delivered to my inbox every morning and reading it is the first thing I do when I wake up.

Gone are the days where I dreamed I could have a career in New York working in the magazine business. Although it’s not what I want in a career anymore, I still get my fill with ELLE. I always look forward to reading about high fashion, beauty, travel and career tips every month. Who knows? Maybe I might freelance my way up there someday.

I receive two SmartBrief e-newsletters: one for Housewares and one from the PRSA. The former provides me the most important developments in public relations, while the latter specializes in the home housewares industry since I work within that niche. There is something for everyone with more than 200 niche e-newsletters to choose from!

I’m a magazine addict; it’s something about those glossy pages that make me swoon. You bet I’m in magazine heaven at work because we have tons of them! I’m particularly drawn to publications that specialize in interior design. You can often find me reading Kitchen & Bath Design News, ELLE DECOR and House Beautiful cover to cover.

I get my local news fix through Patch. It’s not filled with as much negative news as the major local news outlets, so I find it better for my mental health. I follow Bensalem Patch on Facebook and will often find myself clicking on real estate listing round-ups, event features, retail news and weather forecasts that may catch my eye while scrolling.
